Our client is a dynamic, high-growth fintech company headquartered in Singapore with a significant and expanding regional presence across Southeast Asia. Known for its innovative approach to digital payments, lending, and consumer financing solutions, this company is a market leader poised for continued growth and development.
 

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Regional Head of Compliance to lead the compliance function. This senior role will report directly to the C-suite and play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the company’s compliance, regulatory, and licensing strategies across the region. The successful candidate will manage a dedicated team of around 20 compliance professionals, overseeing a full spectrum of compliance functions. Additionally, the role will involve supporting government affairs efforts, enhancing the company's external engagement and alignment with regulatory expectations.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic direction and day-to-day leadership for the compliance team, managing around 20 professionals across the region.
  • Develop and implement robust compliance frameworks to ensure the company meets all regulatory, licensing, and statutory obligations across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Oversee regulatory licensing processes and manage ongoing compliance with applicable financial regulations, particularly those related to digital payments, lending, and consumer financing.
  • Act as the company's representative in government and regulatory engagements, fostering strong relationships and advocating for policies that support business growth.
  • Identify and mitigate compliance and regulatory risks, maintaining rigorous standards that protect the company’s reputation and uphold regulatory compliance.
  • Work closely with the C-suite, senior leadership, and cross-functional teams to ensure a culture of compliance is embedded within the organization.
  • Drive a proactive approach to compliance by staying ahead of regulatory developments, industry standards, and best practices to continuously enhance the company's compliance posture.

 

Requirements:

  • 10-15 years of compliance experience, with a proven track record in fintech, technology, or financial services industries. Prior experience in fast-growing environments, particularly those offering digital payments, lending, or consumer financing products, is highly valued.
  • Demonstrated success in leading and growing compliance teams, including experience managing a team of 15+ professionals.
  • Deep understanding of regulatory frameworks across Southeast Asia, including experience in licensing and managing relations with regulatory bodies.
  • Ability to think strategically and work in partnership with senior stakeholders to shape and execute a compliance vision aligned with business objectives.
  • Experience supporting or leading government affairs initiatives and engaging with regulatory bodies is advantageous.
  • Legal qualification is well-regarded but not essential.
