Job Description

Our client is a leading digital infrastructure company, well-backed by a global private equity firm. Reporting directly to the CEO & Founder, the General Counsel will oversee all legal matters, ensuring compliance and providing strategic guidance. The role demands at least 10 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) with a strong background in data centres, real estate, and construction sectors. Chinese language skills are advantageous for communicating with key stakeholders from mainland China.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic legal advice to the CEO, executive team, and board of directors.
  • Oversee all legal aspects of the company’s operations, including corporate governance, regulatory compliance, contracts, intellectual property, and litigation.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of agreements and contracts.
  • Manage external legal counsel and ensure cost-effective and high-quality legal services.
  • Develop and implement legal policies and procedures to mitigate risk and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Support business development activities, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships.
  • Communicate effectively with key stakeholders from mainland China, leveraging Chinese language skills where applicable.

Requirements:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree or equivalent legal qualification.
  • Minimum of 10 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in corporate law, with significant experience in the data centre, real estate, and construction sectors.
  • Proven track record of providing legal counsel in a high-growth, startup environment.
  • Strong understanding of corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and commercial transactions.
  • Excellent negotiation, drafting, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Chinese language capability is highly desirable due to the need to liaise with Chinese speaking stakeholders in mainland China
