Job Description

Our client, a prominent company in the construction industry, is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join their legal team. The successful candidate will have a robust background in construction law and extensive experience handling construction-related contracts and legal advisory work. This role is pivotal in providing strategic legal support and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of construction-related contracts, including but not limited to construction agreements, subcontractor agreements, supply agreements, and consultancy agreements.
  • Provide comprehensive legal advice to the business on construction-related matters, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Manage and resolve disputes related to construction projects, including litigation, arbitration, and mediation.
  • Identify potential legal risks in construction projects and provide proactive solutions to mitigate those risks.
  • Ensure compliance with industry-specific regulations and standards, including health and safety regulations, environmental laws, and planning and zoning laws.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including project managers, contractors, clients, and regulatory authorities, to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Develop and implement legal policies and procedures to standardize and streamline legal processes within the company.
  • Conduct training sessions for staff on legal and regulatory requirements relevant to the construction industry.

Key Requirements:
  • Qualified lawyer with a minimum of 8 years PQE.
  • Proven experience in construction law, including drafting and negotiating construction contracts, and handling construction-related disputes.
  • Deep understanding of the construction industry and related legal issues.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance and risk management in the construction sector.
  • Experience with dispute resolution mechanisms such as arbitration, mediation, and litigation.
  • High level of professionalism and ethical standards.
